Publisher's Description:

I may be insane for even trying to transcribe this–probably more so since I actually completed it. Out of all the piano pieces in the soundtrack of the anime Ga-rei Zero, this is by far the hardest. (and the most fun :) Yes, I just turned my closing parentheses into a smiley face. What now?

This is as close as I can get to a note-for-note transcription of the original piece. The bass notes were really hard to pick out (I realize laptop speakers and iPod earbuds are not ideal, but it’s the best I have right now), so thank you spectral analysis!

The majority of this piece is (I think) in A minor, but it changes so often it’s not even funny. Due to the horrendous number of accidentals, I scored this so it would put reminder naturals on notes that were flats or sharps in the previous measure. There’s a lot of those though, so I made a second PDF that doesn’t have them.

There’s also a midi file too, because this would be really hard to sight-read without knowing what it sounds like. Actually, it’ll still be really hard to sight read anyways. Anyways, I’m going to go fumble around on a keyboard for a while–and by that, I really mean, go to sleep, go to class, and then figure out whether this song is even possible to play. Even though the original recording of this song sounds like it’s being played by a real person, I’m not totally convinced yet…

I think I’ve prattled on long enough, so if I haven’t discouraged you, or you just want to see whether the left hand really routinely jumps down two something octaves in the space of an eight note… at 160bmp, the links are below! They can also be found on the sheet music page.

Updated 10-28-2009: After playing this a little bit, It’s actually a little easier than I had imagined. It’s still freakishly hard, but it’s possible. I also caught a couple errors with things in the wrong octaves, so fixed versions are now uploaded.
