Tool to download DRM-Free content from BBC iPlayer. This content can be played on any device that supports Apple QuickTime Movies (.mp4 files) and MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 (.mp3) including iPhone, iPod Touch and any PC with the latest QuickTime Player installed. Supports TV and Radio programmes, although not all programmes are available. Search BBC iPlayer programmes based on Channels, Genre and Title search.

Installation

Extract the contents of the ZIP file anywhere on your machine. To start the application under windows you can double click the start.bat file or on any other operating system u can either double click the iDownload.jar file or start it via the command line:

java –jar iDownload.jar

This will start the application and the user interface will start in your default internet browser.

Downloads

In order to download programmes, you can add these by manually entering the program identifier or via the search facility. To add programmes manually go to BBC iPlayer website and locate the programme you wish to download from which the programme id can be obtained from the address normally starting with b00.....

Once the programme id is manually obtained you can enter this in the text input box and then either press enter or click the add button. If the programme id is valid the details will be shown in the list below it, with additional controls to: Start Download, Stop Download, Remove Download (remove it off the list), Delete Download (remove it off the list and delete any downloaded files).

Searching

You can also add programmes by searching the BBC iPlayer programmes directory. Under the search panel the options are located at the top. A Channel must be selected, however, the Genre and the Filter search are optional. Once your search returns its results the programme can be added to the download queue either by double clicking on the image or by selecting one or more (hold down SHIFT Key) and then clicking the button below the search results.
