 For My Book Live users, it is recommened that you update your drive to the latest available firmware to ensure optimum compatibility with this version of the WD Smartware. If you run this version of WD Smartware with a My Book Live on firmware version 01.05.07 or earlier you may encounter issues where you may not have access to files that you have backed up.

WD SmartWare update highlights:

Windows release 2.0.0 (updated 4/16/2013)
Scheduled backup support. Back up files on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
Improved and simplified auto update process.
The ability to upgrade to WD SmartWare Pro version (License fee required) for expanded backup capabilities

Backup supported on WD Elements drive
Backup supported on non-WD external USB hard drives
Back up files to your Dropbox account (Dropbox account required)
Back up your Dropbox files to an external hard drive (Dropbox account required)

Update the WD SmartWare Software

NOTE: To update to this version of WD SmartWare, you need the following minimum requirements:
Windows XP 32-bit Service Pack 3, Windows XP 64-bit Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, Windows 7
or Windows 8.
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 or higher installed on your computer.

If you don't already have the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 installed on your computer, you will be prompted to install it.
