A number of internet sites have appeared which provide a service to get around the problem of mail servers rejecting attachments. They allow you to upload your files to their server then notify named recipients of the download link by email. Most require some payment, though some are free but with limited functionality. Most carry advertising.
Most broadband users have free webspace provided as part of their contract. Though there are free scripts available to provide file upload to a server much the same as above, many broadband providers will not allow external scripts to be used on that free webspace. However, most providers will allow FTP access to that free space, if not, there is lots of FREE webspace with FTP access out there! FTPZipper is designed to provide a similar and I believe better, upload/mail function but from your desktop, so overcoming the restrictions of other systems.
FTPZipper is a unique sort of FTP client. It doesn´t do half the things most FTP clients can offer but it does combine several functions into a single program that would require other applications:
Selected files are archived into a single standard ZIP format file with the option to add a password.
The zipped archive is uploaded by FTP using optionally an anonymous random file name or a specified name.
It creates an email message you can use to notify recipients of the file link for download and/or password for the zipped archive.
It optionally copies the uploaded file name to clipboard ready to add into a document.
It optionally deletes the created zip file after upload.
Hosted files can be viewed, deleted or renamed.
